An immortal tale, a powerful retelling, exciting new music… The Pied Piper will have you and your family enthralled from the first note.

The travelling piper (his signature tune borrowed from Debussy) arrives in a town with a rat problem and charms the vermin away. But when the greedy mayor won’t pay, the tune changes and it’s the children who disappear.

The words are by Michael Morpurgo (of War Horse fame), the music by Colin Matthews, with illustrations by Emma Chichester Clark. The SSO will be joined by the Sydney Children’s Choir and two narrators for this concert-length musical story. It’s the result of an SSO commission in collaboration with the London Philharmonic and the Seattle Symphony, and we think you’ll agree with the reviews so far: this sophisticated entertainment is set to become a classic.

Suitable for ages 6+ and their families
