Mozart’s youthful Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola brims with excitement and energy. The soulful voice of the viola in dialogue with its more brilliant sibling is a masterclass in theatrical storytelling, a wordless operatic duet for contrasting characters.

Sydney Symphony Principal Viola Tobias Breider and Associate Concertmaster Harry Bennetts play their parts perfectly in this best of all Mozart’s string concertos.

The versatile Alexander Shelley brings his fine-tuned musicianship to orchestral favourites by Debussy and Rimsky-Korsakov: Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun is a sensuous picture of mythical Greece, of nymphs and shimmering heat. The seductive Scheherazade (portrayed by a solo violin) spins Arabian Nights tales of Sinbad, princes and festivals in an opulent orchestral fantasy.
