A voyage on the impressionistic seas of Debussy and Mendelssohn, plus Ravel’s dazzling piano concerto.

Alexandra Dariescu’s extrovert virtuosity easily finds the snap and sizzle inherent in Maurice Ravel’s chic piano concerto. Dazzling on the outside, the core of the Concerto is a slow movement of delicate grace.

A painter in sound, Claude Debussy captures the soul of the sea in the three symphonic sketches of La mer, brisk and glinting or dangerously surging. Debussy sets sail on a sea of his imagination – full of light and air.

Conductor Jun Märkl is famously attuned to the evocative sound-worlds of Debussy and Ravel.
