Jazz great James Morrison will appear with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra playing timeless hits from his latest album, The Great American Songbook. Performing on a range of instruments (trumpet, flugelhorn, trombone, tenor sax and piano), Morrison brings his trademark virtuosity and style to songs written by famous American composers of the 1930-1950s.
Featuring, Porter’s Ev’ry Time We Say Goodbye, Gershwin’s Summertime, and A Foggy Day, Ellington’s It Don’t Mean a Thing if it Ain’t Got That Swing and Kern’s The Way You Look Tonight.
"Rather than a solo artist who appears on stage to play one instrument for, perhaps, 40 minutes, he will play upwards of ten different instruments, including piano, for close to two hours. Not only can that include synchronising with eighty plus musicians in the orchestra, but also delivering mind-blowing, often highly amusing, trivia about jazz at the same time."
