Project Staff Opportunities – Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour: La Traviata
Opera Australia is looking to fill four roles for Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour: La Traviata; Company and Production Coordinator, Project Assistant, Operations Coordinator and Site & Communications Officer.
In 2020, La Traviata returns to the iconic stage at Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour. The purpose built opera house will accommodate a 26m x 19m stage, two sound and lighting towers and an access walkway on Farm Cove. Fleet Steps will house a seating structure for approximately 3,000 people, four general admission catering areas, a platinum dining area, public amenities and backstage facilities. The purpose built venue will host 26 performances with the venue opening to ticket holders from 5pm for a 7.30pm performance.
Performances are held Tuesday to Sunday (and not Good Friday), commencing at 7.30pm to approximately 10.10pm (subject to production) with one 35 minute interval. Opening night is 27 March and closing 26 April 2020.

Company & Production Coordinator: 06/01/2020 to 01/05/2020
The Company & Production Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Assistant Producer: Production and Production Manager in the development and successful implementation of Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour and other projects produced by the team to high artistic and technical standards. The role will coordinate the requirements of the performing company and the production requirements in the rehearsal room and on site.
Project Assistant: 06/01/2020 to 01/05/2020
The Project Assistant is responsible for supporting the Assistant Producers in the successful implementation of Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour to high artistic, technical and operational standards. The role will assist with the day-to-day administration to capture all information to be distributed to and from the team.
Operations Coordinator: 06/01/2020 to 08/05/2020 (subject to change)
The Operations Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Site & Venue Operations Manager in the development and successful implementation of Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour and other projects produced by the team to high artistic and technical standards. The role will be responsible for supporting the delivery of operations for production and the site/venue during construction and performance timeframes, including the operational requirements for technical production, site design and the construction and dismantle of the site structures.
Site & Communications Officer: 20/01/2020 to 01/05/2020 (subject to change)
The Site & Communications Officer is a vital support role and during construction and deconstruction, the Site & Communications Officer will support the operations of the site. During performances, the Site & Communications Officer controls the Communications Room (Emergency Management Centre) during venue operational times. The Site & Communications Officer is experienced in site operations and an experienced radio operator. As the controller of the Communications Room during performance, the role is responsible for recording all communications in accordance with event procedures and policy. It coordinates communication between department supervisors across radio channels, which may involve deploying site resources and implementing emergency response procedures.
