The External Affairs Coordinator sits within a team which is passionate about forging and maintaining relationships with the Sydney Symphony’s partners.  Primary purpose of the role:

The External Affairs Coordinator is responsible for supporting and coordinating activities across the External Affairs Department, specifically focused on assisting the External Affairs Manager and External Affairs Officer.

 Key accountabilities:

  • Servicing support for corporate partners, including managing ticket allocations, ensuring partnership benefits are clearly articulated to other departments;
  • Process corporate sponsorship payments and facilitate thanking and receipting through Tessitura;
  • Provide briefing documents for Executive team and Board members for events;
  • Update partner and prospect information in Tessitura and create accurate partner listings for concert programs and website;
  • Undertake corporate prospect research;
  • Undertake research into Trusts and Foundations whose objectives align to Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s fundraising goals;
  • Undertake administrative duties as required including accurately maintaining expenditure budget;
  • Work closely with the External Affairs team to deliver the Sydney Symphony Orchestra events program, with duties including liaising with suppliers and venues;
  • Attend concerts and functions as required;
  • Other duties as required.

 Qualifications and Skills:

  • High level people relationship skills
  • High level of initiative; strong organisational & negotiation skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Polished personal presentation style
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications preferred (not essential)
  • Highly skilled in, or strong capacity for CRM database work
  • Passion for classical and contemporary orchestral music
  • Ability to work well under pressure and problem-solve effectively
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Previous fundraising experience will be positively regarded, as will prior experience working with fundraising databases
  • Highest possible ethical standards in all aspects of professional life
