The play’s the thing

Playwriting Australia call for EOI. Playwriting Australia (PWA) is looking for new writing that will help broaden the narrative, and expand audience's expectations of the work of the producers. What’s more, the application process is simple — it starts with a conversation about the play you want to develop, and why.

Ignition is Playwriting Australia's long-form creative development program for works made by producing companies. This four-year creative script-development program, undertaken in partnership with producing companies, will increase the investment, range, ambition, diversity and quality of Australian playwriting, leading to new landmark productions. It also seeks to extend the scale of works, providing necessary resources to develop scripts to an exceptional quality.

Through an EOI process, PWA will select a number of new works each year for development over a 12–24 month period. This may be for a co-commission or for a work at an early stage of its development.

The first step is to contact Artistic Director Tim Roseman on 02 8274 0906 (tim@pwa.org.au) for a discussion about your project. Once you’ve had a conversation with PWA, potential partners will be invited to send a 2–3 page expression of interest for co-commission / development of work in 2018.

EOIs close on Monday 25 September.
