The Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship is recognised as one of the world's leading orchestral training programs.

The Fellowship is a year-long program which immerses its participants in the day-to-day workings of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Under the guidance of Sydney Symphony Principal Viola and Fellowship Artistic DirectorRoger Benedict, the Fellows are provided with the training and experience they need to secure full-time positions in professional orchestras.

  • Open to Flute + Piccolo, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Horn, Trumpet, Tenor Trombone, Percussion + Timpani, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass
  • One year apprenticeship with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra
  • $33,644 bursary
  • 40 calls on mainstage with the Sydney Symphony
  • Participation in Sydney Symphony education and outreach activities
  • Masterclasses with Sydney Symphony guest soloists
  • Perform chamber music concerts in Sydney and regional NSW
  • A comprehensive program of professional training including lessons with Sydney Symphony musicians, excerpt preparation, stage craft, external relationship management, and access to the Sydney Symphony Health and Wellbeing program.
