‘Stuck In The Middle With You’ is an immersive Virtual Reality experience that for the first time ever puts you onstage with Sydney Dance Company. Part dance, part documentary, part drama, you will find yourself on stage, interrupting a frenetic performance where you speak with the dancers directly, challenging them to answer questions about what it means to be a performer. As the dance evolves you too become a performer in the work.
Presented with motion tracked, virtual reality headsets, this immersive experience places the viewer inside of the work – questioning their relationship with the performers and engaging with dance in a distinctively intimate way.
‘Stuck In The Middle With You’ is presented by Sydney Dance Company in collaboration with ACMI, Closer Productions, Jumpgate VR and Gideon Obarzanek. It is directed by award-winning filmmaker Matthew Bate and ex-Chunky Move artistic director Gideon Obarzanek, whose last collaboration, the short docu-drama ‘I Want To Dance Better At Parties’, won the Dendy Award for Best Short Film at the Sydney Film Festival.
