Prestigious New Position for Richard Tognetti

The Australian Chamber Orchestra’s 2017 season is Tognetti's 28th at the helm. But before it begins, he has taken up the position of artist-in-residence at London’s Barbican Centre Milton Court Concert Hall.

At Milton Court, Tognetti appears as classical recitalist, genre-defying collaborator, and of course, as head of the ACO. On 15th November, he begins his residency with a solo violin recital featuring regular collaborator, pianist Polina Leschenko, in a concert featuring Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe’sIrkanda 1. The following week Tognetti will join ACO principal violinist Satu Vänskä in collaboration with electronic artists from the Guildhall School, exploring the integral relationship between classical music, minimalism and the birth of electronica.

The Richard then returnsto Milton Courtin March next yearperforming a further three concerts with the ACO.

Milton Court opened its doors for the first time in 2013, revealing new performance spaces, rehearsal rooms and teaching accommodation. Its state-of-the-art 608 seat concert hall is a significant addition to the existing venues for classical music at the Barbican.
