The Godfrey Turner Memorial Music Trust and the Margaret Henderson Music Trust have as their missions to enable the highest quality musical experiences for the people of Orange. Through their support and in partnership with the Orange Regional Conservatorium, Musica Viva will present a diverse range of music programs and initiatives for the enjoyment of the local community.

Musica Viva In Schools will present live music performances for primary school students and their teachers, with funding allowing students from smaller schools in the region to attend concerts with students from larger schools. The support of the trusts will also enable peer-to-peer networking and professional development for local teachers as well as several community concerts, workshops and masterclasses.

With support from the Margaret Henderson Music Trust, Musica Viva’s FutureMakers artist, pianist Aura Go, will take residency at the Orange Regional Conservatorium.

During two separate two-week periods, in March and May 2019, Aura will present workshops, masterclasses, individual tuition and community forums, culminating in performances alongside piano students and staff.

This artist residency will complement the existing program of professional development and performance opportunities with Musica Viva’s regional touring ensembles Estivo Trio and Coco’s Lunch.

This year will also see local musician and educator David Shaw receive support through the inaugural Mary Turner Fellowship. This fellowship was set up in recognition of the late Mary Turner’s vision in creating the Godfrey Turner Memorial Music Trust (in her husband’s name) and the Margaret Henderson Music Trust (in her aunt’s name) and her desire to nurture local musicians in the Orange region.

The fellowship has been established to support a talented musician/music educator in the formative years of their career, who demonstrates a commitment to quality music making and nurturing music activities in the region.
