Opera Queensland calls all filmmakers

Opera Queensland is calling all filmmakers to register their interest in documenting the company’s Project Puccini which gives hundreds of Queenslanders the opportunity to perform in the chorus of a new production of Puccini's La bohème.

Opera Queensland calls all filmmakers

OperaQ will audition budding choristers in nine locations around the state and is keen to film behind the scenes and interviews with the local singers, as well as actual performances.

OperaQ Artistic Director Lindy Hume said Project Puccini was a hugely ambitious undertaking with the potential for incredible community impact.

‘We want to document the participants’ journeys every step of the way. This will help us plan for future regional projects.’

Ms Hume said that through their travels they had come across some outstanding creative talent in the communities, and ‘we want to capture local artists’ responses to the epic journey that is Project Puccini’.

‘As part of the documentation process, filmmakers will be granted unprecedented behind-the-scenes access. I urge any aspiring filmmakers to get in touch, as we would love to work with you.’

Auditions have just begun and the project culminates with a final performance in Mt Isa in September.

OperaQ is keen to keep the process flexible and capture as much backstage footage as possible.
