Employee benefits and administration services company, Smartgroup Corporation has signed a sponsorship agreement with Opera Australia, the country’s largest and most prestigious arts organisation this week.

The ASX-listed specialist provider of services including salary packaging, novated leasing and fleet management has agreed to support Opera Australia’s (OA) touring program that includes its extensive schools program, which reaches more than 70,000 school children throughout NSW and VIC each year.

The deal also encompasses OA’s annual National Tour, which this year sees the company perform John Bell’s celebrated production ofMadama Butterfly throughout QLD, NT and WA. Plus bespoke client hosting opportunities at OA’s two homes – Sydney Opera House and ArtsCentre Melbourne.

According to OA CEO Rory Jeffes, it was clear from the first meeting that there were a number of ways OA and Smartgroup could partner.

Opera Australia’s Schools Tour of By The Light of the Moon runs from 4 March to 23 September in NSW and in VIC, The Barber of Seville runs from 20 May to 23 August which between them will perform at nearly 300 different schools.

The National Tour heads north in 2019 and will visit 20 towns from the Gold Coast to Cairns in QLD, Darwin to Alice Springs in the NT and Albany to Broome in WA.
