November Sneak Peeks 2016

November sees new productions at Malthouse Theatre, Blaque Showgirls, set in the glitzy clubs of Brisvegas, Feydeau’s A Flea in Her Ear at Sydney Theatre Company, Molière’s Tartuffe at State Theatre Company South Australia and three friends discover the importance of teamwork in Circus Oz’s 3 Speed Crunch Box at the Melba Spiegeltent.

The month includes productions of two icons of the operatic and musical canon. State Opera of South Australia recreates the grandeur, beauty and drama of Puccini’sTosca and Cheryl Barker and Peter Coleman Wright star in a new Opera Queensland production of Cole Porter’sKiss Me.

Sydney Symphony Orchestra perform Gershwin’s musical masterpiecePorgy and Bess in a semi-staged performance in Sydney while in Tasmania, a very different couple take the stage with Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra performing excerpts from Wagner’sTristan and Isolde. Adelaide Symphony Orchestra brings the great violinist Pinchus Zukerman to the concert stage in a program including Enescu’sBallade and Beethoven’s magnificent Triple Concerto.

In dance, back due to popular demand, West Australian Ballet presents a lavish new production ofThe Nutcracker and Sydney Dance Company continues its commitment to emerging choreographers performing four new works in the third season ofNew Breed.

And lastly, congratulations to Malthouse Theatre and its production ofI Am a Miracle – the winner of the 2016 CHASS (Council for the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences) Australia Prize for Distinctive Work.
