At Black Swan, the State Theatre Company of WA’s season launch, Fortescue Metals Group was announced as the Company’s new principal partner, by the Minister for Culture and the Arts Hon David Templeman MLA.

Minister Templeman said “Congratulations to Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA and Fortescue for embarking on this new partnership. It is sure to provide significant outcomes for Black Swan audiences and the WA community.”

He added that “Corporate support for arts organisations is essential for the sustainability of our arts sector. The WA resources sector in particular has provided vital support to our arts sector both historically and into the future.”

CEO of Fortescue Elizabeth Gaines believes that “From the outset, it was Fortescue’s vision to ensure that the communities in which we operate thrive and we have been proud to support many West Australian initiatives and organisations,” Ms Gaines said.

“Fortescue and Black Swan are both strong West Australian brands with a shared ambition for our State and a dedication to building vibrant communities across the State.”

“We look forward to working with Fortescue in creating bold and adventurous theatre with a uniquely Western Australian voice and taking our stories to the world,” Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA Interim Executive Director Danielle Norrish said. “This partnership will assist us in connecting more broadly with the Western Australian public and help deliver programs which can make a real impact regionally, nurture new local talent and support our artistic programs.”

Black Swan confirmed Fortescue have signed an initial three-year partnership with a long-term ambition to support the State Theatre of Western Australia and the value that arts contributes to society and the WA economy.
