Obviously, the health and safety of our community is of the utmost importance to us, and we have had precautionary measures in place at our venues (Southbank Theatre and Arts Centre Melbourne) and at MTC’s offices for the past several weeks. We also continue to strictly adhere to all new Government and medical advice.

Accordingly, we have just announced the cancellation of all remaining performances ofTorch the Place

at Arts Centre Melbourne and Emerald City at our own Southbank Theatre, effective from today. We feel this is the most responsible course of action in the interest of public health at this time, and in the light of Government restrictions on non-essential mass gatherings beyond 500 people.

Hours of hard work and dedication go into every one of our shows and provide jobs for hundreds of creative professionals who rely on MTC to make a living. This unprecedented situation will drastically impact our industry.

We deeply apologise for the disappointment that these cancellations will cause to our audiences. If you have a ticket forTorch the Place orEmerald City, it may be exchanged for another show later in the year or refunded. But we would also greatly appreciate your consideration of the option to donate your tickets to MTC, which will help support the Company, particularly our casual staff and our creative artists at this challenging time.

Information about all options are available on our website.

It is in times of great uncertainty like these that the arts are more important than ever. We are thankful that we have such a loyal and passionate audience who engage with us on many levels.
