In a rare treat, the composer is conducting, and he has framed Dramatis Person_ with music by Sibelius. The Historic Scenes are early Sibelius (thinkFinlandia). Then, in the Third Symphony, he enters a new creative phase with music that's lithe and lean. Sibelius put it this way: 'While other composers serve gaudy cocktails, I offer the world cold, clear water.' Water, you could add, with the potency of vodka!
