This December will shimmer and spangle with energy and festive cheer as our performing arts companies push the boat out in a magnificent celebration of creativity and all things Christmas.

What better way to enter the spirit of it all than by losing yourself in worlds of wonder and dreams with The Australian Ballet’sAlice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Queensland Ballet’sThe Nutcracker.

In this season of giving two glittering FREE events will share the joy— in Perth, the West Australia Symphony Orchestra will stage the spectacularSymphony in the City 2017, while in Melbourne, visitors will be enchanted by arias under the stars inMazda Opera in the Bowl.

The Australian Chamber Orchestra will gift Brisbane audiences the magicalBach’s Christmas Oratorio, and of course, it would not be Christmas without QueenslandSymphony Orchestra performing Handel’s Messiah. Perth audiences will also be wowed by the sophisticated harmonies and old-fashioned fun ofChristmas with The Idea of North and WASO, while Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will feature festive favourites in theirMSO Christmas.

It’s party time in Adelaide with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’sClassics Unwrapped 4 while in Hobart, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra will perform the transcendentally beautifulThe Lark Ascending. In Sydney, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra gathers all the sparkle and surprise of Christmas and presents it in the joyful and intenseNoël! Noël!.

In Melbourne, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will feature festive favourites in their MSO Christmas while Circus Oz bursts onto the stage with a circus rock opera featuring Berlin’s Prince and Princess of art rock and EuroPop, Otto and Astrid from the band Die Roten Punkte.

Sydney Symphony Orchestra will galvanise audiences with LA LA LANDand Belvoir will electrify them with the rock-gig musical Barbara and the Camp Dogs.As the city kicks up her heels in a sky-blazing finale of fireworks to end the year, the show will be rounded off with performances ofThe Merry Widow and Opera Gala at the Sydney Opera House.

The fun’s not over! 2018 already promises a creative bonanza as AMPAG members new 2018 seasons are waiting in the wings.
