A writer, director and performer, Jeffrey Jay Fowler is a graduate of WAAPA and NIDA. He was nominated for the Philip Parsons’ Playwright Award in 2010 and has worked with West Australia’s Deckchair Theatre and Perth Theatre Company (now Black Swan) and joined Black Swan’s Emerging Writers Group before becoming the company’s assistant director.

Described by The Australian as ‘a masterpiece’, I Am a Miracle was written by Declan Greene and directed by Malthouse Artistic Director Matthew Lutton. Winning five Green Room Awards, this 2015 production depicted a world bound to the injustices of the past and included a musical score by David Chisholm including artists from Opera Australia.

The Council for the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS) aims to raise awareness of humanities, arts and social sciences (HASS) and their critical role in building the societies of the future.

2016 will mark the third year of the annual CHASS Australia Prizes. The Australia Prizes honour distinguished achievements by Australians working, studying, or training in the HASS sectors, including academics, practitioners, philanthropists, policy makers, and students.

Winners of the CHASS Australia Prizes will be announced on 20 October and we wish all the best to the short listed nominees.
