29 school-aged string musicians from across the country participated in the program, with students hailing from QLD, NSW, WA, VIC and SA.

They spent a week rehearsing and being mentored by ACO musicians Aiko Goto, Liisa Pallandi, Nikki Divall, and Daniel Yeadon, as well as musicians from the ACO’s Emerging Artists program. The week culminated in a public performance on Friday 13 July at the Melbourne Recital Centre, performing repertoire by Tchaikovsky, Respighi and Bloch. The soloist was the incredible young cellist Bennet Tsai.

ACO Academy builds skills in technical accuracy, ensemble playing and performance technique, where students rehearse and perform alongside ACO musicians led by ACO Violinist, Aiko Goto. Participating students from around Australia are hand-picked by ACO Musicians via a YouTube audition process.
