2019 Helpmann Awards nominations
Live Performance Australia (LPA) have announced the Helpmann Awards Nominees ahead of the Helpman Awards 2019 to be held in Melbourne next month, 14 and 15 July.

LPA Chief Executive Evelyn Richardson said, “We are delighted to be presenting the 42 Helpmann Awards over two nights for the very first time in Melbourne. Over the past eighteen years the Helpmann Awards have had 12,000 entries and announced over 2,900 Nominees which highlight the artistry and excellence in Australia’s dynamic live performance industry which is enjoyed by over 18 million people each year.,
Works or performances produced by MPAs attracted a total of 84 nominations across 33 award categories.These included 23 nominations to Opera Australia, 18 to Sydney Theatre Company including 4 co-produced with Malthouse Theatre, 15 to Belvoir across four productions including Counting and Cracking, a co-production of with Co-Curious and 7 nominations to Sydney Dance Company.
The Helpmann Awards are the premier celebration of Australia’s vibrant live performance industry.The Awards recognise distinguished achievement and excellence in Australia’s live performance sectors including musicals, contemporary music, comedy, opera and classical music, theatre, ballet, dance and physical theatre, presentations for children and young people, regional touring and cabaret.
