The arts and converged media

Great art can make us realise that we need to be more dignified. Artists provide a very important and different prism through which we experience the world. . . Remove it, and you become very technocratic and narrow. Embrace it, and you have a genuinely interesting, pluralist, open-minded society. Jonathan Mills AO - Director of Edinburgh International Festival

Are the arts adequately acknowledged and supported as 'Australian content' in the media landscape? AMPAG, in its response to the federal government's Convergence review, discussed this and many other issues. The review was set up to examine the operation of media and communications regulation in Australia. The government wants to make sure its media and communications regulation doesn’t impede technological change, but at the same time ensure the ongoing protection of Australian content.
