Full Details

Opera Australia (OA) is Australia’s flagship opera company. OA is dedicated to delivering outstanding performances as the resident company at the Sydney Opera House and Arts Centre Melbourne, and through touring across the country. OA has a range of major projects supporting the future of opera as a contemporary offering, extending the reach of its art-form to new and emerging audiences and of connecting appropriately with specific communities around the nation.

Opera Australia’s Philanthropy Department manages an integrated philanthropy and engagement program to maximise individual giving in support of artistic excellence, production, access activities and the long term goals of the Company.
The Company seeks a new Annual Giving Manager
who will be responsible for developing and managing an effective annual giving program in Sydney.

This will include membership, annual appeal, fundraisers, on-line and general giving and entry level mayor gifts. The focus will be on giving up to $10,000.

Key to this is managing and growing the Patron Program in Sydney in such a way as to achieve agreed income, retention and growth target. The success of the program is measured by the income raised, the quality of stewardship of current members and the acquisition of new members.

Working closely with colleagues in Melbourne will ensure a seamless programme of activity and providing exceptional personal service to patrons and donors is paramount.

The ideal candidate will possess highly sophisticated interpersonal communication skills, empathy and emotional intelligence, combined with high level experience in executive administration and an eye for detail. Experience in the fundraising environment is highly desirable, as is a demonstrated enthusiasm for the arts and cultural life of Australia.

A knowledge of annual appeals and methods of reaching donors at the entry level of philanthropy is important to the success of this varied and interesting role.

The position is permanent full-time and located at the Opera Centre in Surry Hills, Sydney.
