The Digital Theatre release of Andrew Bovell’s critically acclaimed Things I Know To Be True which was co-produced with award-winning UK theatrical innovators, Frantic Assembly and State Theatre Company SA slated for 22 Feb.
Digital Theatre captured Things I Know To Be True during a live performance at the Lyric Theatre Hammersmith inLondon in September last year and the production will be available online to a worldwide audience from Wednesday22nd of February, 2017.
The collaboration between Digital Theatre, Frantic Assembly and State Theatre Company was built on the desire tomake the performing arts accessible to young people regardless of geographical, social or economic boundaries. This isthe first production of State Theatre Company’s to be captured live for online distribution.
State Theatre Company South Australia’s Artistic Director, Geordie Brookman stated: “We are delighted that thisambitious international collaboration will be given new life through Digital Theatre. Things I Know To Be True hasconnected with audiences profoundly on both sides of the globe and the idea that new audiences will be given accessto the piece is deeply satisfying. In particular we’re pleased that, through Digital Theatre’s focus on education, futuregenerations of school students will be able to explore all the emotional intricacies of Andrew’s work as if they were rightthere in the theatre.”
Justin Cooke, Digital Theatre’s Chairman said, “The filming we do ourselves is of vital importance to the future ofperforming arts’ education. Our priority is to capture important pieces of contemporary theatre like Things I Know ToBe True, that would otherwise be lost forever. And we do this to enable students and teachers to experience a broaderrange of performance, whilst providing an additional revenue stream to the actors, creatives and producers involved inthis incredibly important area of the performing arts.”
The production will be accompanied by supporting educational resources, including interviews with cast and creatives,warm-ups on film and an in-depth resource pack.Frantic Assembly’s Artistic Director, Scott Graham stated: “I am really thrilled that, with the brilliant Digital Theatre, weare bringingThings I Know To Be True to a huge, global, digital audience.
