Registrations fill fast as The Australian Ballet once again pirouettes into Western Sydney for the company’s third free, annual outdoor performance, Ballet Under the Stars, presented in Penrith on Saturday 6 October 2018.
For the first time, this year’s event will include a full-length production of a timeless, romantic ballet, the much-loved classic Giselle.
Ticket registrations opened yesterday at 10am and had reached capacity just 7 hours later, demonstrating just how popular this outdoor community performance is. Once againBallet Under the Stars is supported by the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW and by Major Partners Celestino, Penrith City Council and Penrith Lakes.
Ballet Under the Stars is a highlight of The Australian Ballet’s annual calendar. Following last year’s very popular event, it is expected that this year’s performance will attract over 8,000 attendees.
Giselle is a romantic and ethereal ballet which has proved to be a timeless classic. The production has been enchanting audiences since it first appeared on stage in Paris in 1841. In October 2018, Giselle will sparkle in the moonlight a world away from Paris when The Australian Ballet performs for audiences in Western Sydney.
As a free event for the community of Western Sydney, Ballet Under the Stars provides both new and seasoned ballet lovers with the opportunity to enjoy a performance by Australia’s national ballet company. In addition, The Australian Ballet will present pre-show entertainment aimed to provide opportunities to get to know more about ballet and its dancers. These activities include the opportunity to watch the dancers warm up on the stage, autograph signing and an interactive Q&A session with the dancers.
