On Saturday 28 July at its matinee performance of West Side Story, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra presented Jeanne Pratt AC with a Life Membership to acknowledge her generosity toward the MSO and celebrate her commitment to Australia’s cultural life.
Announcing the honour on behalf of the Board of the MSO, Helen Silver AO highlighted Jeanne Pratt’s outstanding support of the Orchestra.
“We are very grateful to Jeanne Pratt and the Pratt Foundation for their exceptional contribution to the MSO’s reputation and growth.
“Over many years, The Pratt Foundation has underpinned significant projects for the MSO: including our 2014 tour to Europe with Sir Andrew Davis, and the gift of three years’ seed funding to establish our popular MUSO program.
“A Life Membership is our way of saying thank you,” said Ms Silver.
Accepting the award, Jeanne Pratt said: "It's so special to receive this wonderful honour from the MSO – a great orchestra that makes great music!
“For a self-confessed lover of Melbourne, it doesn't get much better,” said Jeanne Pratt.
The MSO’s Life Membership program acknowledges patrons whose commitment and involvement with the Orchestra is exceptional.Jeanne Pratt AC joins other Life Members Lady Primrose Potter AC, Marc Besen AO and Eva Besen AC, and Sir Elton John CBE.
Over the years the late Ila Vanrenen, the late John Brockman AOM and the late Honourable Alan Goldberg AO QC have also been honoured.
