Talk about a happy New Year! 2019 has kicked off with loads of fun and festival fare for all. Parramatta will be abuzz with Sydney Symphony Orchestra’s free Symphony under the Stars, and Rock Bang — Circus Oz’s circus opera collaboration with Otto & Astrid — as part of Sydney Festival offerings. Summer fun continues as young dancers and circus performers from in and around Australia develop their skills at Sydney Dance Company, West Australian Ballet, Queensland Ballet, The Australian Ballet and Circus Oz workshops.

Jan Sneak Peeks 2019

As part of the Adelaide French Festival, Le Salon, with State Opera South Australia, recreates the fashion of 18th century Paris for matching fine cuisine with brilliant artistic talent. Another opera feast is in store as American powerhouse soprano Amber Wagner makes her triumphant return to Sydney in Opera Australia’s production of Puccini’sTurandot.

Theatre is off to a cracking start, literally, with Belvoir’s bold new play, Counting and Cracking, and we take a peek behind the scenes of the production with actor, writer, theatre maker Jay Emmanuel. Malthouse Theatre will stage the most influential US play of the last 25 years,The Ars Nova Production of Underground Railroad Game, and audiences in Perth will be treated to a free reading of Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize-winningThe Skin of Our Teeth.
