QB's EdSquad visited Chinchilla over the Easter holidays for a fun-filled Dance Camp, made possible with the proud support of Shell's QGC business. Over four days, young dancers had the chance to make new friends, learn and create choreography, take part in creative workshops and perform for family and friends.
The next Dance Camp will be held at Mount Tamborine during the July holidays.
With new and old friends alike, 5 – 17 year olds enrolled in a Queensland Ballet Dance Camp perfect their technique and practice their pirouettes under the careful guidance of Queensland Ballet’s EdSquad. In 2019 QB will also be offering two-day Dance Camps within South East Queensland. This two-day program could compliment the full 4-day Dance Camp as a fun taster or follow-up for communities.
Created to enrich lives, help raise awareness about ballet, reinforce the diverse technical and expressive skills in our communities and uncover the magic of the ballet in a fun and engaging way, participants have the opportunity to:
- get creative with sets and costumes;
- learn current repertoire;
- develop choreography to share and explore with others; and
- meet new people.
An informal showing will conclude the camp and parents/carers are invited to attend and celebrate the achievements of all.
Queensland Ballet see their regional workshops as a way to reach into communities who don’t normally have the ballet in town.
“It is an awesome opportunity to have access to different teachers, different teaching styles and repertoire. It is inclusive and an invaluable opportunity for rural and remote kids to take part in.”- Parent
