The 2017 Orchestral Work Of The Year award went to Lyle Chan for Serenade for Tenor, Saxophone and Orchestra (“My Dear Benjamin”) at the Art Music Awards night head at the City Recital Centre, Sydney on 22nd August.
This orchestral work, performed by Andrew Goodwin (tenor), Michael Duke (saxophone), the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Paul Kildea (conductor) was one of among a total of eleven national categories, and eight state and territory categories
The Awards, presented by APRA/AMCOS and Music Australia are no in their seventh year. They recognise achievement in the composition, performance, education and presentation of Australian art music. Art music covers activity across contemporary classical music, contemporary jazz and improvised music, experimental music and sound art.
